“Ride of a Lifetime” is the story of Cynthia "Tootie" Anderson's lifetime journey with horses, and with one mare in particular. At a low ebb in Tootie's life, a big chestnut mare named Zoe entered and turned Tootie's world around. Horse lovers as well as those who don’t have any experience with horses will enjoy this book about joy, sadness, redemption, giving, and loving. Readers will also feel the raw emotions Tootie experienced when she had to overcome more obstacles than one could count, and conversely will ride right alongside her to experience her highs and success. There is something in it for everyone as it is a true “underdog takes all” story, but any junior or adult amateur who has had struggles in the horse world is sure to identify with some part of the story and love it!
Here are some reviews:
“The detail Tootie Anderson goes into about her chosen equine sport of eventing, the care it takes to create and maintain an equine athlete, medical situations she encountered, and the thoughtfulness she puts into being a true partner with her horse will delight any “horse person.” Readers will become as committed to Zoe’s success as the rider/author herself. Have a tissue ready for the last chapter, but by the last page Anderson’s commitment to horses and her sport will fill readers with great optimism.” Cheryl Kimball, author of Mindful Horsemanship, Horse Wise, and Horse Showing for Kids
“Ride of a Lifetime is a wonderful story of Tootie’s commitment, especially to her goals and the welfare of her horses, and her determination to overcome a multitude of barriers and excel. Few people would understand how hard it is to attain the success she did. Tootie’s story inspires me as I have faced several set backs with my young horse and my own health barriers. This life story is heart felt and full of love for the sport, but mostly for her love of the horse. “ Karyn Hernandez
“Ride of a Lifetime is an inspirational story about life lessons that demonstrates perseverance can overcome any hurdle and make dreams come true.” Denise M. George
“I could not put the book down! I read it in a weekend! Tootie writes very well and provides many interesting facts about what is required of horse and rider. The insight and sense of humor are marvelous! The reader’s emotions are drawn out as they are able to identify with some of what Tootie felt feeling during times of jubilation and sorrow. I cheered for her and I cried for her! What a great movie this would make!!!!” Constance Clarke
